Presentation:

To educate architects, specifiers & designers on the new ANSI/AWI 0641 Architectural Wood Casework. There are now laboratory tested manufacturing methods and materials to prove the structural performance of the casework being specified. This new standard also allows for proprietary manufacturing methods to be performance tested and specified while giving scientific validation & accountability to the woodworking industry as a whole.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify differences between the previous AWS Ed 2 Casework Standard and the new ANSI/AWI 0641 Architectural Wood Casework standard.
  2. Educate on differences between aesthetic-based standards (AWS Ed 2) and structural performance-based standards (0641).
  3. Become familiar with the impact of the ANSI & Performance Based Testing processes as they relate specifically to the 0641 Architectural Wood Casework Standard.
  4. Learn how the specifier benefits by using the new ANSI/AWI 0641 Architectural Wood Casework Standard, resulting in time & product efficiencies, while increasing the validity & accountability of the woodworking industry.

Hunter Morrison is the Technical Director at AWI, providing technical assistance and standards-based guidance for the commercial architectural woodworking industry. He works with architects, specifiers, and project teams to translate design intent into clear, buildable, and high-quality outcomes.
