This presentation provides a practical overview of artificial intelligence and its growing role in the building industry. It establishes a foundational understanding of Large Language Model (LLM) AI and explains how these systems work, then explores how the International Code Council (ICC) has implemented a specialized AI architecture through its AI Navigator tool to support code research and interpretation.

In addition, the presentation highlights where AI is already embedded within today’s building code content and workflows, offering real-world context for current applications. It concludes by looking ahead to emerging opportunities, examining how AI may shape the future of building codes and the development of intelligent tools that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making across the building industry.
