Program Overview:

Specifications provide critical information necessary to convey the design intent of the Architect and the legally enforceable contract requirements.  Many factors must be considered by the Architect in the development of written construction documents, including project delivery method, project ownership, sustainability, and code requirements.

This session will provide an in-depth look at the importance of specifications in the design and construction process.  We will examine basics of preparing a project manual including procurement & contracting requirements and technical specifications.  We will discuss the methods of specifying, organization structures for building information, contemporary issues in specifying, and enforcement of specifications during construction.

Presenters will provide insight into common mistakes that lead to change orders and litigation, and how best to avoid these pitfalls.
