Presentation:

The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law July 26, 1990. It was revised 20 years later, with the 2010 version. The ADA is over 35 years old. However, ADA design is still misunderstood, creating design and construction challenges. This presentation takes a look at some of the common mistakes and overlooked items of the ADA. Addressing the intent of the ADA and providing real world solutions.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understating what is ADA and Code
  2. Exploring the do's & don'ts and the misconceptions of the ADA Standards
  3. Comparing the different sections and understanding how they work together
  4. Applying the ADA Standards to Design and Construction

Speakers Bio:

Daniel Hargreaves, FCSI, CDT, AIA, RAS is an Architect and Project Manager for SRa Architects. Daniel also serves as the Operations Manager for SRa Architects and is considered an expert by his peers and the architectural community. Daniel has been in the architecture for over 40 years and joined SRa Architects in 2013 where he is responsible for establishing CAD/BIM standards, CAD/BIM training and served as the lead modeler on several major projects. He also facilitates inhouse Accessibility compliance at SRa along with being an advisor to clients. Daniel serves the CSINext Chapter as Electronics Chair and Treasurer. He also served as past president for the CSINext & Dallas Chapters, South Central & Southwest Regions along with serving as Institute Director.
